InterAction was Sierra On-Line's magazine published to advertise its products.

Sierra On-Line's official magazine dedicated to its graphic adventures was called InterAction Magazine (previously it had titles such as Sierra Newsletter and Sierra News Magazine). According to historical records, the company published a regular internal newsletter beginning in the late 1980s.

1981: The On-Line Newsletter – a single inaugural issue.

1987–1989: Sierra Newsletter – a revived newsletter that ran until Spring 1989.

1989–1991: Sierra News Magazine – an expanded edition (Fall 1989 to Spring 1991).

1991–1999: InterAction Magazine – new name starting in the fall of 1991, published seasonally until Sierra ceased almost all activity in 1999.

Content:

InterAction was essentially a Sierra promotional newsletter, with a very informal and enthusiastic tone.
The editors themselves humorously described it as β€œa blatantly biased look at games from the Sierra family,” reflecting its obvious promotional function.
Its pages featured internal company news, previews, and introductions to new titles (for example, the upcoming King's Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest, etc.), as well as interviews with designers (Roberta Williams, for example, graced the cover of several issues), columns by President Ken Williams (President's Corner), tech tips sections (how to use the EGA, configure sound, etc.), features on Sierra's music, customer support forums, contests, and internal humor.
The magazine functioned as a "glorified catalog" of Sierra games, but interspersed with exclusive content for fans (inside jokes, fan art, joke pages, etc.).

Distribution and format:

It was a free (promotional) publication. It was usually mailed to subscribers, fan club members, or the press, and was sometimes included as a supplement or "gift" inside other industry magazines. In fact, it's known that some issues of InterAction were included in magazines like PC Gamer or similar. It was a paper magazine (printed in color in later editions) that came out each season (spring, summer, fall, winter) or on special dates. Each issue ran to dozens of pages with extensive graphic content and articles; for example, the Fall 1989 issue included interviews with Roberta Williams, features on new games like Larry 3 or Conquests of Camelot, tips for configuring EGA graphics, internal "rumors" sections, fan contests, etc.

Historical Interest:

Although it was a commercial publication, InterAction has become a much-loved time capsule for fans of 1980s and 1990s graphic adventures. It preserves Sierra's unique voice: its characteristic humor, development details, and period advertising. The complete collection of InterAction (scanned PDF issues) is available online on Sierra founder Ken Williams's website, a testament to the nostalgic interest among fans. For the retro community, the original issues are coveted as memorabilia from Sierra's golden age. In short, InterAction was Sierra's official in-house magazine, a historical reflection of how the company shared news and engaged with its audience at the time.
