The Adventurer was the official magazine of LucasArts (formerly Lucasfilm Games), published between 1990 and 1996. It was primarily dedicated to the company's graphic adventure games, such as Monkey Island, Indiana Jones, Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, and more.
It was a full-color printed magazine, approximately 16 to 24 pages per issue, distributed free of charge and mailed to those who subscribed to or purchased LucasArts products.
Each issue included:
News about upcoming releases
Interviews with developers (Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, etc.)
Features on the development of their graphic adventures
Game tips and tricks
Concept art, sketches, and screenshots
News from the world of Lucasfilm, such as Star Wars game previews
It was a blend of promotional newsletter and fan magazine, with a fun tone that was very representative of the LucasArts spirit.
Although it was short and promotional, The Adventurer has become a highly prized piece for collectors and fans of graphic adventures. Many of its issues have been scanned and can be found online as part of retro software preservation archives (for example, on archive.org or fan sites like Mixnmojo.com).
