Cherry is a German manufacturer of computer peripherals.

Cherry was founded by Walter Cherry in 1953 in Highland Park, Illinois, USA. Upon the founder's death, his son Peter assumed ownership of the company and moved the headquarters to Auerbach in the Upper Palatinate, Germany, in 1979.
Cherry has been manufacturing keyboards since 1973 and claims to be the oldest keyboard manufacturer still on the market.
But its origins lie in automotive components.
When Peter Cherry, son of Walter L. Cherry, sold his company to ZF Friedrichshafen AG in 2008, a German supplier to the automotive industry, Cherry was renamed ZF Electronics GmbH, while the Cherry brand continued solely for its computer input devices.
Its line of MX and ML keyswitches, which include red, blue, and brown switches, are highly regarded and have also been used in industrial electronics.
