He was the founding CEO of Control Data Corporation, which became one of the largest and most respected computer companies in the world.

He was famous for taking on IBM and winning, as well as for being a social activist who used Control Data's expansion in the late 1960s to create jobs and train professionals in economically disadvantaged cities.
