He was a huge computer enthusiast from the age of 14. He studied at Washington State University, but dropped out after two years to work with Bill Gates on writing commercial software for the new personal computers.
They started by selling a BASIC interpreter. They later closed the business of their lives by licensing DOS for the new personal computers launched by IBM.
