Ted Nelson
1937
Chicago [USA]
He is an American philosopher, sociologist, and information technology pioneer, known for coining the terms hypertext and hypermedia and for being the founder of the Xanadu project in the 1960s.
The idea for Xanadu (which emerged after a visit to Xerox PARC) was to create an online library with all of humanity's literature, compiled into a single, global document that he called a "docuverse" (a premonition of the World Wide Web), and which also automatically managed the collection of royalties on each work.
