Innovations: The first multitasking personal computer to hit the market.
Following its first models using the traditional Zilog Z80 microprocessor, the QL was equipped with a powerful Motorola 68008 chip, which enabled it to operate even before the Mac (which would be released a few days later, but without multitasking in its early versions of the operating system) or the Amiga (which wouldn't be released until the following year).
The company was already facing financial difficulties, and the model was released prematurely, despite a delivery delay of months and due to manufacturing errors.
Despite sales of this last model, this failed to recover the company's debt, and it was eventually sold to Amstrad, its main competitor. The company would stop producing this model as it was in direct competition with its CPC6128 and PCW8256 models.
